What to Expect at a DVA Hearing Assessment
A DVA-funded hearing assessment is designed to identify hearing loss and determine the best way to support your hearing health. Here’s what’s involved:
We begin by discussing your hearing concerns, presence or absence of ringing in the ears (tinnitus), medical history, lifestyle, and any difficulties you’re experiencing in daily communication. This helps us understand how hearing loss and tinnitus may be impacting your life.
Using a specialised instrument called an otoscope, we examine your ear canals and eardrums to check for wax blockages, infections, or any abnormalities.
We will explain your results in clear, easy-to-understand terms and answer any questions you may have. If hearing loss is present, we’ll discuss appropriate solutions, which may include hearing aids or assistive listening devices.
